On February 24, 2025, the first daytime drama to debut in more than 25 years premiered on CBS with Beyond the Gates. Now, series creator Michele Val Jean is reflecting on the milestone year and thanking those who helped turn what she once considered an impossible dream into a reality.
Val Jean shared the message on Instagram, captioning a photo of her name appearing in the opening credits of the soap opera. “2025 will always be the year an impossible dream came true,” she wrote.
The Daytime Emmy-winning showrunner went on to thank those who helped bring the series to life, writing, “My deepest gratitude to CBS, NAACP, P&G, the writers, producers, directors, cast and crew of Beyond The Gates.”
Beyond The Gates is developed and produced by CBS Studios and the NAACP in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. The series is the groundbreaking first hour-long Black soap opera to premiere in daytime.
Val Jean concluded her post by adding, “Without you breathing life into that dream it would still be random thoughts in my head, instead of this vibrant community and family we’ve become. So grateful for you all ??”
