ActorPaul Rudd found mainstream success after his role as Cher Horowitz's (Alicia Silverstone) love interest, Josh, in the beloved 1995 film, Clueless.
In April 2025, Variety reported that Clueless was getting a sequel television series on Peacock. While speaking to Entertainment Tonightat the premiere of Anaconda on December 13, Rudd commented on whether he'll be joining the cast of the upcoming Clueless show.
"I don't know. I don't think so. I mean, I'm like you, I saw that they were making that. So, I'm curious. That's exciting," said Rudd to the publication.
Silverstone, who will be an executive producer on the Clueless Peacock series, spoke about the reboot in an August 2025 interview on the Chicks in the Office podcast. The actress confirmed that she will be playing Cher again. In addition, she said that while she is "excited" about the project, she wants to make sure that she doesn't "mess this up for anyone."
"People really love this. and I love it. And wouldn't it be so tragic. So that's what we're doing we've been talking about it for a long time. It's been like two years. And so, it's in development. And we're in very very baby stages. And I'm hopeful we can make it good," said Silverstone during the August 2025 interview.
She also said she wants "to honor" the original movie, written by Amy Heckerling, while "bring[ing] something really new and fresh to it at the same time
"I'm hopeful we'll do that. I'm confident we'll do that. And that's my goal, just not to mess it up," said Silverstone on the Chicks in the Office podcast.
While Silverstone has an appreciation for Cher, the actress insisted that she's very different from the fashionable, somewhat vain character in a September 2025 episode ofDax Shepard's podcast, Armchair Expert. She explained, unlike her movie counterpart, she didn't attend Hollywood parties or was materialistic during her teenage years.
"I was really into the earth and animals and permaculture, a theater nerd," said Silverstone during the podcast interview.
