A Disney World cast member is on the mend after getting injured during one of the theme park’s live performances.
In a TikTok video posted on Tuesday, December 30, a Disney World employee was hit by a rogue prop boulder during the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! at Hollywood Studios. A Disney World representative later confirmed that a cast member was injured during the Tuesday performance.
“We’re focused on supporting our cast member who is recovering,” a statement shared with People said. “Safety is at the heart of what we do, and that element of the show will be modified as our safety team completes a review of what happened.”
The Indiana Jones attraction—which is inspired by the action film franchise starring Harrison Ford—features actors who “perform incredible stunts with explosive special effects,” per the Disney World website. The live show includes a segment where the titular character is running from a boulder on a track, but on Tuesday, the prop broke loose from its predetermined course and headed toward the audience instead.

The TikTok video showed the Disney World cast member stepping in front of the boulder to block it from barreling into the audience. In the process, the employee was hit and knocked down by the massive prop. Other staffers immediately rushed in to help up their colleague—who had a noticeable wound on his head—and usher him away for further assistance.

“We were sitting there and didn’t know what was going on, then all of the sudden a worker named Robert stepped in front and saved us from getting smashed,” she recalled. “It was a crazy experience and definitely one that we will remember.”
While Bruinsma told the outlet that the cast member “got up what seemed like right away with a little help from a couple other people” and his “head was bleeding quite a bit,” she revealed that the performance went on as planned. Afterward, the injured employee “came out and waved, and everyone gave him a standing ovation.”
Meanwhile, Ashley Suit—a woman who claimed to know the cast member—shared an additional update via X on Tuesday.
“This heroic cast member is our dear friend Robert,” she wrote. “He received six stitches but is recovering in the hospital. He’s a former stunt man and his quick thinking saved many. Please keep him in your prayers.”
The incident comes after a string of deaths on Disney World property in recent months. In October, a guest died by suicide at the Contemporary Resort. Later that month, another guest died at the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground after experiencing a “medical episode,” according to an Orange County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson. A third guest died in an apparent suicide at Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort later in October.
In November, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that “a woman in her 40s was transported” from Disney World to a nearby hospital, where she died. Later that month, the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed there was a fifth death at Saratoga Springs Resort, though details of the incident were unclear at the time.
