Beloved 70s Rocker, 75, Makes Major Announcement About First Solo Album in Nearly 20 Years

Lou Gramm might be planning to retire next year, but he's sure keeping busy in the meantime.

After spending the past year touring with both Foreigner and his solo band (with more dates planned for 2026), the legendary frontman, 75, has announced the release date for his upcoming solo album, Released, which will be his third official solo album, according to American Songwriter. (The first was Ready or Not, in 1987; the second was 1989's Long Hard Look. His solo group, the Lou Gramm Band, also released a self-titled album of Christian rock in 2009.)

Featuring 10 original songs (9 of which were co-written by Gramm's longtime collaborator Bruce Turgon, who played with Gramm in his pre-Foreigner band Black Sheep), Released is scheduled to drop on March 20, 2026.

Released will feature some very special and notable guests, including Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell (who plays on the first track, “Young Love"), bassist Tony Franklin on a song called “Long Gone," and Gramm's brother, drummer Ben Grammatico. Longtime fans of Gramm's solo work will be interested to hear an unplugged version of “True Blue Love,” which was included on Long Hard Look.

Gramm also produced the album, and even though he still means to retire by the end of the year, he is planning to tour in support of Released.

Lou Gramm's new album will be a 'conglomerate of past and present'

As Gramm explained in a recent interview with Kyle Meredith, he's been working on the material for Released for years now.

“I’ve been working on this album for over two years, and I have been looking through my backlog of songs that were great songs but were unfinished and didn’t make it to the cut on my records and went back and finished some of them, and they’re awesome songs,” Gramm explained. “So I’m taking some new songs that were written and some of the older songs that deserve to be on the album. I finished ‘em up, polished ‘em up, and they’re on the album. So it’s a little conglomerate of past and present.”

“It rocks hard, boy,” he continued. “I’m so excited to release them, because, to me, they sound great.”

Anxious fans don't have to wait until March to hear new music from Gramm — the first single from Released will be out in early February.
