Trevon Diggs is coming to the NFC North.
But he isn’t joining the Chicago Bears. Instead, Diggs is reportedly linking up with the Bears’ longest-standing rival — the Green Bay Packers.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport has the scoop:
A fascinating claim by the #Packers. t.co/jyf8vWJJyI
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) December 31, 2025Trevon Diggs reportedly set to sign with the Packers
I’m with RapSheet on this one. That is a fascinating waiver claim by the Packers. Green Bay is banged up and could use the help in the secondary. Adding Trevon Diggs means that defense can throw a two-time Pro Bowler into the mix. Diggs hasn’t been great this year. But what better way to try to turn around your career than by leaving Matt Eberflus and the Dallas Cowboys and teaming up with the Packers, and Defensive Coordinator Jeff Hafley? I imagine that former Cowboys teammate Micah Parsons vouched for Diggs before Green Bay rolled the dice.
When Trevon Diggs hit the waiver wire on Tuesday, this is what I had to say:
Bears Defensive Backs Coach Al Harris had Trevon Diggs when the two were in Dallas. And it feels worth pointing out that DIggs was a two-time Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro under Harris’ watch. If Harris believed he could coax that out of Diggs in the postseason, then I would be open to hearing that argument. Let me be clear. I’m not banging the table for Chicago’s football team to scoop Diggs off the waiver wire. However, what I am saying is that I would be open to the idea of the Bears bringing Diggs on if — and only if — it came at the recommendation of Al Harris.
Who knows if the Bears were lining things up to claim Trevon Diggs. What I do know is that he could be an opponent in two weeks should Chicago maintain its position as the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs.
