The Dead to Me star responded to the fan question by writing back, "so I was 13. And I have a 14 year old. Be honest with your parents And they will be there." Applegate, who shares 14-year-old daughter Sadie Grace with husband Martyn LeNoble, has previously spoken out about her complicated parental relationships, voicing some of the "regrets" she had after her dad's death earlier this year.
"I have a certain kind of heartbreak with that, which is, number one, I'll never see him or talk to him again," Applegate said on a June episode of her MesSy podcast after the dead of her father, Robert. "But also, the heartbreak of all the regrets I have, of the things I didn't say, certain resentments that I held that seemed so frivolous and ridiculous to me now. How I wish I had maybe spent more time or something."
