Beverly Hills, 90210 Alum Sued Over New Year’s Eve Hollywood Street Fight

Ian Ziering is facing fresh legal trouble tied to a chaotic Hollywood street altercation that first made headlines more than two years ago.

The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star, 61, is being sued by one of the motorcycle riders involved in a widely circulated New Year’s Eve confrontation on Hollywood Boulevard in 2023. According to a new lawsuit obtained by Rolling Stone, 22-year-old Jacob Hernandez alleged Ziering assaulted him during the incident, which was captured on video and quickly spread online.

In the complaint, filed Monday, December 29, Hernandez claimed he was riding a 125-cc Honda motorbike when traffic came to a standstill on December 31, 2023. He said he was positioned in front of Ziering’s Mercedes-Benz when the actor suddenly exited his vehicle and aggressively approached him without provocation.

The lawsuit alleged that Ziering shoved Hernandez twice with “full force,” causing him to fall into a female friend riding another minibike beside him. Both riders and their bikes reportedly went down in the roadway. Hernandez maintained he never touched Ziering’s vehicle and did not exchange words with the actor before the alleged shove.

What followed was a brief street skirmish as other riders rushed in. Hernandez claimed he suffered multiple injuries during the melee and that his motorbike was damaged. He also alleged that Ziering later misrepresented what happened when speaking publicly about the incident.

At the time, the Sharknado star shared his own account on Instagram, placing the blame squarely on the group of minibike riders. In the Jan. 1, 2024 post, Ziering said his car was approached aggressively while he was stuck in traffic and that exiting his vehicle to assess possible damage escalated into a physical confrontation. He emphasized that he was traveling with his daughter and that both were unharmed.

Ziering also framed the incident as part of a broader public safety issue, criticizing what he described as increasing “hooliganism” on city streets and calling for stronger law enforcement responses.

Hernandez’s lawsuit paints a much different picture. He claimed the ordeal left him with ongoing psychological distress, including panic attacks, paranoia, and difficulty sleeping. Although Hernandez was arrested months later on May 21, 2024, prosecutors ultimately declined to file charges against him, according to the complaint.

Hernandez is now seeking compensatory and punitive damages, with the amount to be determined by a jury trial.

Representatives for Ziering did not immediately respond to Parade’s request for comment on the lawsuit.
