It's that time of year again and the New Years Honours list for 2026 has now been unveiled, with plenty of recognisable famous faces from the world of British TV, film, music and sport all being recognised.
Known for his roles in shows like The Wire, Luther and Hijack, Idris Elba has been given a knighthood for his charity work with young people.
Alongside his acting career, Elba has launched an anti-knife crime campaign as well as founding the Elba Hope Foundation with his wife Sabrina. The charity carries out its work in the UK, the US and in Africa, "advancing educational and economic opportunities, answering the call to educate, organize, and train youth, working for and with future generations."
Elba also fronted BBC documentary, Our Knife Crime Crisis, at the start of the year which saw the actor speak with victims, offenders, police and grieving families to uncover the truth around the crisis and challenging stereotypes.
On accepting his honour, Elba said: "I receive this honour on behalf of the many young people whose talent, ambition and resilience has driven the work of the Elba Hope Foundation."
Elsewhere on the list, actress Meera Syal has been recognised as a Dame for her contribution to drama, literature and charity, having also written several novels and plays alongside her acting. Syal was one of the creators behind BBC sketch show Goodness Gracious Me, having been appointed an MBE in 1997 and then a CBE in 2015.
Last of the Summer Wine and Keeping Up Appearances writer Roy Clarke has also been knighted, while Thursday Murder Club's Richard Osman and actor Warwick Davies have both been given an OBE, as well as Match of the Day's Gabby Logan and football commentator Clive Tyldesley.
Other famous faces to have made the list include Sally Lindsay, Bill Bailey and Paul Chuckle, who were all given MBEs, as well as TV chef Marcus Wareing and presenter Phil Spencer.
It was a big year for the England women's football team and coach Sarina Wiegman has been lauded accordingly, receiving an honorary Dame title after the Lionesses scooped up their second Euros victory this year.
Wiegman, who is from the Netherlands, has been granted the damehood but cannot use the title of Dame, as per the terms set out for foreign citizens. On receiving her title, Wiegman said: "When I first arrived in England, I could never have imagined the respect and warmth I've experienced. I deeply thank the fans for their support."

Singer Ellie Goulding has also been appointed an MBE for her work as an environmental ambassador, while Olympic runner Paula Radcliffe also becomes an OBE.
The oldest surviving victim of the Post Office Horizon IT scandal, Betty Brown, has also been given an OBE for services to justice on account of her part in the campaign against wrongful prosecutions. On receiving the honour, she said that she would wear the award in honour of the other subpostmasters.
