It's been a busy year for Elton John, but despite recent health struggles and over half a century of amazing accomplishments to his credit, the legendary musician is still making major plans for the future...and fans couldn't be happier.
In a holiday video message to members of his fan club, John, 78, wished viewers a "happy Christmas" before going on to highlight some of 2025's most significant moments — and hinting at what's in store for 2026.
“It’s been a fantastic year for me,” John said. “I had two number one albums in the British charts, which I never had before. ‘Step Into Christmas’ is again in the Top 10 as I speak. And I want to thank you for all your loyalty and your continued support. It means so much to me.”

John went on to point out that he's “done 11 private shows this year, which has kept me in good stead. I’m in great voice, and I enjoy playing with the band and on my own.”
“I’ll be going to the studio next April to make a record,” he continued, revealing, "But I’ve already made one, which is fantastic. So I’m teasing you with that one.”
Fans were thrilled to hear about the possibility of not just one, but two new albums from the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, with many thanking him for his work in the comments.
"Happy Holidays Elton and family! Thank you so much for the best memories and still making those memories!! These 40+ years have been fab!!" one person wrote.
"Merry Christmas to you and all your family! Thanks for being an advocate for many important causes that wouldn't been with you! And the best music ever!!" gushed a second fan, with a third adding, "Merry Christmas and many thanks for all the great music over all these years. Your continued music means so much to us!"
Elton John's next project will be a departure from his recent Brandi Carlile collab
In an interview with Variety earlier this year, John revealed that his next album will have more of a contemporary sound than Who Believes in Angels?, the retro-inspired record he released with Brandi Carlile earlier this year.
“The album with Brandi, it’s a timeless record, but it’s not of its time," he said. "We just wanted to make a record that we loved, with great songs. That was a yesterday record, and it was fantastic. But there is a part of me that wants to do a much more commercial record and do more Bernie Taupin songs that are more of today than yesterday.”
As John explained, it was his hope that Who Believes in Angels? would help to make Carlile an international sensation.
“When I did the record with Brandi, I said, ‘You’re established in America, but I want this record to establish you in other places,’ and that was one of the main reasons to do it," he said. "After we did the Palladium together, she did the Albert Hall; she has a huge following now, there, and a following in Australia, and she just went back to England to do promotions...and I can’t believe how many people turned up. I wanted her to become an international artist, and that album has pushed her into the fore in those countries. So it did the job."
Not only that, but Who Believes in Angels? was nominated for two Grammys: best traditional pop vocal album, and best song written for visual media.
