Starbucks Has ‘Sweet Surprises’ in Store for Valentine’s Day

The holidays may have only wrapped up, but Starbucks (like many other retailers) is already looking ahead to Valentine's Day.

Days ahead of welcoming the new year, the coffee giant made several pretty massive announcements, including the planned closure of nearly 400 stores, a new celebrity drink collaboration and now, even more menu options slated to release later this winter.

On Monday, Starbucks revealed that in addition to the second half of its winter menu—which features seasonal offers like a Pistachio Latte, a Pistachio Cream Cold Brew and some bakery items—it has a few "sweet surprises" in store for Valentine's Day, including some new matcha drinks, bakery items and frapps.

Heading to Starbucks locations nationwide in the upcoming weeks are two all-new matcha teas, an Iced Double Berry Matcha (which is made with the returning fan-favorite Raspberry syrup) and an Iced Banana Bread Matcha. Both, like other Starbies drinks, can be customized and crafted with the customer's milk of choice.

Not into tea? This is a coffeehouse, after all, and the company is ready to pump out a new dark roast coffee blend, the 1971 Roast featuring a blend of beans from Colombia, Sumatra and Brazil.

It also revealed it will offer a seasonal cold brew, the White Chocolate Strawberry Cream Cold Brew, a festive reimagining of one of the most popular treats of the season—as is its new Strawberry Shortcake Frappuccino, which (presumably) doesn't include any caffeine, but why not add a shot of espresso and call it a Strawberry Shortcake Tiramisu Frappuccino?

As for sweet treats you eat, Starbucks revealed it will be doubling down and offerign even more globally-inspired flavors, planning to release a Dubai Chocolate Bite for a limited time. Coming with it is what the brand called a "Cookie Croissant Swirl," a tangy Yuzu Citrus Blossom, a colorful Berry Blondie, Strawberry Matcha Loaf and Chocolate Pistachio Loaf.

"I’m gonna have to get one of each ??," one fan joked in response to the latest update.

"The bakery stuff omg," another gushed.

"Can’t wait for the strawberry drinks!???," a third cheered, while someone else called out the more savory, pistachio offerings, "Ready for pistachio to come back," they wrote.

Several others lamented over the lack of Red Velvet-flavors, but being that this is just a preview, it's possible the coffeehouse has plans to surprise fans with more announcements as we approach the official debut. Speaking of, while Starbucks didn't offer an exact release date, the company assures fans all of the above will be available sometime this February—let the countdown begin!
