How Travis Barkers L.A. Marathon Training Hit a Snag

Travis Barker's training for the Los Angeles Marathon has hit a bit of a snag. The 50-year-old Blink-182 drummer and husband of Kourtney Kardashian posted on social media on Dec. 28 that a shinbone injury has halted his progress.

"Training for LA marathon and I injured my Tibia," he wrote on X Dec. 28. Fortunately, he quickly found a positive to the situation, writing, "Upside crutches are a great workout."

Barker has been planning to run his very first marathon on March 8, 2026. However, the longtime vegan is no stranger to running, and even started a club called Run Travis Run in 2024. His love of running began slowly after surviving a deadly plane crash.

"After my accident in 2008 more than 70% of my body was burnt and I was told by doctors that I may never be able to walk or play drums the same again," he wrote in a statement on the group's website. "I was never athletic and I never played sports but I immediately had this urge to prove everyone wrong including myself."

"It started off with short walks and then that turned into short runs everyday," he continued. "I felt this sense of calmness and a rush of dopamine every time I ran. I’ve kept this up for years now, and I always start my day with it. I even run 3 miles everyday before my shows when I’m on tour."

According to Runner's World, Barker ran his first half-marathon on New Year's Eve 2023. He ran under the name Clarence Worley, a nod to the True Romance character, of which he's professed to be a huge fan.

Barker claimed that he started Run Travis Run to bring people together and get them involved in health and wellness.

"It should just be fun, and I feel like everyone can get out and do 5Ks," he told People. "Even if they see this, and they don't run it, maybe it motivates them to get outside."
