ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Strong wind gusts have arrived in the Rochester region. The First Alert Weather team has issued a Red Alert for Monday as we track wind speeds that could exceed 50 to 60 miles per hour, especially west of Rochester. Those winds have already started to make an impact.
News10NBC’s Chris Fortune saw waves crashing against the pier of Lake Ontario at Ontario Beach Park. On the way to the beach, he saw multiple trash cans tipped over on Lake Road. You can see his full report here:

Latest power outage report
As the winds ramp up, homes and businesses are losing power. Over 2,000 National Grid customers in Orleans County and around 850 customers in Monroe County, between RG&E and National Grid, have lost power as of 10:30 a.m.
All three major utility providers in the region, RG&E, NYSEG, and National Grid, have additional line crews on standby to respond to power outages. You can see the latest outage numbers for RG&E here, NYSEG here, and National Grid here.
There may be downed power lines on Monday because of the wind. Utility companies are reminding people to stay at least 30 feet away from downed power lines and assume any lines are live. To report a downed power line or other hazard, RG&E customers can call 1-800-743-1701 and NYSEG customers can call 1-800-572-1131. National Grid customers can call 1-800-867-5222.
