ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills almost had a comeback on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, but fell just short because of a failed two-point conversion.
With the loss at home, the Bills’ record has fallen to 11-5 on the season. The Bills have already secured a playoff spot as a wild card, but for the first time in five years, they won’t be able to win their division. The New England Patriots have clinched the AFC East with their record of 13-3.
With five seconds left in regulation, the Bills had a chance to win. The Bills got a rushing touchdown but were still down 13-12, so Sean McDermott and co. opted to go for two. They put the ball in Josh Allen’s hands and the reigning MVP had an open Khalil Shakir in the back of the endzone. However, Allen’s throw missed Shakir and the game was effectively over. After the game, Allen spoke about the missed chance.
“Yeah, I just missed, rolling left. Got to get a better ball, just get to a play that we like. Again it was there and I got to make it,” he said.
Shakir spoke in the locker room. “It was there. Me personally, I feel like I could have came out a little faster and help #17 out and make myself a little more available,” he said.
The Bills regular season will close out with their final divisional game against the New York Jets. Kickoff is at 4:25 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 4.
