Julie Chen is offering clarification on Big Brother 27 houseguest Mickey Lee's heart condition.
On Friday, Dec. 26, Lee’s friends and family shared on Instagram that she had passed away following a series of cardiac arrests after experiencing complications from the flu.
“With profound sadness, the family of Mickey Lee announces her transition on Christmas in the early evening,” the post read.
“Mickey captured the hearts of audiences nationwide through her appearance on Big Brother, where her authenticity, strength, and spirit left a lasting impression on fans and fellow cast members alike,” the post continued. “She will be remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of so many and for the genuine connections she formed on and off screen. Mickey’s light, legacy, and impact will never be forgotten.”
In her tribute to Lee shared that same day, the Big Brother host said that Lee told her she was born with a hole in her heart during an appearance on Chen's podcast God 101.
Soon after the longtime Big Brother host shared that information, fans began wondering if the heart complication contributed to her death at age 35. However, two days later on Sunday, Dec. 28, Chen said she spoke to Lee's family who confirmed the hole in her heart had since closed.
"To all those praying for Mickey’s family and loved ones, we want you to know that they clarified the hole in her heart did close, so that did not contribute to her passing," Chen captioned a video of she and Lee chatting on her podcast. "In her memory, here is a portion of the interview where she reveals it while talking about being a woman of God. You are loved Mickey and we will never forget you. Rest in peace dear Mickey ???."
