TikTok users are calling out the social media app after noticing an apparent "glitch" in the algorithm.
"TikTok is having major issues," social media journalist Aaron Parnas shared via the app on Sunday, December 28. "My 'For You Page' is completely messed up. All I am seeing are videos from months, if not years, ago. My perfectly curated 'For You Page' that I have been working on for so long—I am not seeing the videos I want to see. I'm seeing old videos. I'm not seeing new videos, and I'm not seeing videos from people I want to see."
"Lots of weird stuff happening on this app. Maybe it's because the new deal was recently signed," he added, referring to ByteDance's sale to American investor group led by Oracle, Silver Lake, and MGX.

"Videos from previous months and also videos that I have already liked as well," one person wrote.
"I see videos I’ve already liked months ago and sometimes my TikTok scrolls for me," another reported.
"Same here. All videos I’ve liked, bookmarked, or reposted," a third noted.

While it's unclear exactly what caused the algorithm, TikTok CEO Shou Chew announced on Friday, December 19, via an internal memo to employees that the company "signed agreements with investors regarding a new TikTok U.S. joint venture," per CNN.
According to Chew, the move will "[enable] over 170 million Americans to continue discovering a world of endless possibilities as part of a vital global community."
