Coronation Street and Emmerdale cast have reacted to seeing the upcoming Corriedale crossover for the very first time.
The episode, which will see the worlds of Weatherfield and Hotten combine for one evening only, follows the dramatic aftermath of a multi-vehicle pile-up on a dark and stormy road.
But, for most of the cast, this was the first time they were seeing the spectacle - as the initial stunt was filmed without any of them actually being there.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com and other media at a recent screening event, David Platt actor Jack P. Shepherd seemed wowed by what he had just witnessed.
"I did that little run through all the flames. Do you see me? All the years that we've watched Emmerdale stunts, they have gone down in history of being better than [Coronation Street]," he joked.
"It was nice to finally work with that so that they could show us exactly how to do it. There's lots of car crashes, and that was right in the beginning of the episode, wasn't it? So you were right there, straight away, seeing all these cars like collide and everything."
He continued: "I'm still taking it all in, I suppose, because obviously it's the first time we've seen it. I only saw little bits when we were actually filming on the night. But of course, we weren't there for any of the stunts, because it was just the stunt drivers...no cast were involved."
Carla Connor actress Alison King chirped: "I was."
Jack was quick to blame her for the collision, adding: "Oh yes, it's all your fault. I saw you flagging the car down, and then you caused the crash."
For Charity Dingle icon Emma Atkins, she was simply lost for words.
"I guess I can't even speak really, I feel like I've been part of something so spectacularly special," she explained.
"It's awe-inspiring, really. Charity's mountain of lies, this is only one part of the lie, so she's desperately fighting to keep that a secret during the panic stricken drive to the airport. So even though it's only a small part for me, this tapestry I'm privileged to be part of..."
Jack added: "There's so much to cram in. And what is it? 45 minutes, something like that. I think it's it's a fantastic job of getting all those stories in and with all the crashes, and it looking so filming and cinematic."
Alison was just pleased that Carla hadn't been killed off.
"I was just thinking, what is this? What on earth is this? There's no words," she laughed.
"Obviously I hoped Carla would still be alive at the end of it. We got to the end, I was like, 'Yes, not even maimed', but maybe a little bit."
Corriedale airs on Monday 5th January 2025 at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with no early release on ITVX.
