Country singer Miranda Lambert is known for having a deep love of animals and a history of adopting rescues, but recently, she has dealt with multiple tough losses as some of her animals died.
On Dec. 28, Lambert shared the sad news that her Chihuahua, Cher, died the day before at the age of 15. In a tribute to the sweet dog, she wrote, "Our sweet bear Cher crossed over the rainbow bridge yesterday. Cher gave us 15 years of love and all the chihuahua attitude and energy she had to give. And if you have ever had a chi chi you know what I mean."
She shared some of Cher's story, explaining how she adopted her at 10 weeks old in 2010, saying, "I put her in my overalls pocket at the shelter and that was it!" Not long after that, Cher accompanied Lambert to the ACM Awards as her first major event.
"@tiffanygiffordstyle matched my dress to her so I could take her on the red carpet. ? And I won that year so she did the whole press room with me. Like she has been doing it her whole life," Lambert wrote. Since then, the "Wranglers" singer brought Cher with her on every tour.
In a heartrending comment, Lambert noted, "I was a rescue dog mom of 9 when I met @brendanjmcloughlin 7 years ago, and now we are down to one."
Despite this, she made it clear that she doesn't regret adopting any of her animals: "We sure are ready for a break from the heartbreak y’all, but they are worth every tear we have cried. Animals bring so much joy but I sure do wish dog years didn’t go by so fast. Rescue’s forever ❤️??."
In the post, Lambert shared a bunch of photos and videos from her adventures with Cher over the years, with many of her other dogs making appearances.
