The third-annual Pop-Tarts Bowl was held on Saturday as its history of wackiness and going off the rails continued in a close matchup between No. 12 BYU and No. 22 Georgia Tech.
The wackiness began prior to the game as the two mascot teams vying for the game’s tradition of being toasted and eaten by the bowl’s game winning team were revealed.
The teams pitted Team Sprinkles, featuring captain Protein-Slamming Strawberry, Cherry and Cookies and Cream against Team Swirls, which featured captain Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Wild Berry and Hot Fudge Sundae.

This year’s bowl game did honor its past history as it inducted Strawberry and Cinnamon Roll, the two mascots from the 2023 and 2024 games, into the Pop-Tarts Bowl Ring of Honor and gave them commemorative gold jackets. Or at least tried to.

BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier stood out as he completed 27 of 38 passes for 325 yards and a touchdown. For his efforts, he was named the game’s MVP.
Following the win, Team Sprinkles was chosen to be eaten. Well, at least two-thirds of the team as Protein-Slamming Strawberry left as the others headed into the toaster and were eaten by BYU players and coaches.
