ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A complex winter storm continues to pass south of Rochester, bringing a wide variety of winter weather. A mix of sleet, snow and even freezing rain has had an impact on travel and will continue to do so early Friday evening. As a result, there is a News10NBC yellow alert for all of Western New York. The type of precipitation you receive in your area will ultimately determine how much snow accumulation you will find by the evening.
The News10NBC First Alert meteorologists expect just about all snow from Rochester east into Wayne County. Total snowfall there will be in the range of 4 to 8 inches. Snow and sleet will be likely south of Rochester with a snow total of 3 to 6 inches. South of Routes 5 and 20 will be sleet and freezing rain with a snow total of 1 to 2 inches. All of this precipitation will end by mid evening.
