Damascus, Dec. 24 (SANA) The Syrian Ministry of Education launched a national school vaccination campaign in several schools in Damascus, aiming to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment for students.
The initiative, carried out in cooperation with the Ministries of Health and Local Administration, targets first-grade students with the DTP vaccine and sixth-grade students with the DT vaccine, protecting against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis.
Dr. Mayson Dashash, director of school health at the Ministry of Education, told SANA that the vaccines are safe, WHO-approved, and provided free of charge. She praised parents for their cooperation, noting that prior coordination and awareness efforts helped ensure smooth implementation.
The campaign is part of broader efforts to provide free preventive and therapeutic healthcare to students and educational staff, as part of initiatives to promote a healthy school environment across Syria.
