ROCHESTER, N.Y. — About five years ago, a three-alarm fire destroyed City Blue Imaging’s building, burning into Christmas morning. Despite the devastation, the owners quickly resumed operations in a temporary location.
The owners purchased the building next door and transformed 84 Scio St. into their new home. City Blue Imaging is renowned for its large-scale printing, with work featured at events like Rochester Fringe Festival and Rochester International Jazz Festival.
“It was a very tragic event for us based on our history and ties to the community,” said John Mealey, owner. “But the way that people responded, again, everyone in particular from our staff, just a phenomenal crew always has been to the community. The outpouring of support, it was motivating for us, to say the least.”
Mealey and former owner Mark Cleary said the fire occurred during the holidays, so no one was inside. The cause was never determined.
The business is set to celebrate 100 years next month.
