Lions — Rostered in 55% of Yahoo Leagues

The Lions’ defense has been … pretty bad for fantasy. For most of the season. But the Vikings offense has been a cure for that very illness in 2025. Opposing D/STs have hit double-digit fantasy points eight times against Minnesota and scored 15+ in three of the last five weeks. Detroit has every opportunity for a championship-winning performance on Thursday.

The New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys stick out with a positive matchup during Week 17.

Analysis

New England Patriots @ New York Jets

Rostered in 50% of Yahoo leagues

There’s not much mystery here. The Jets just gave up the DST1 finish to New Orleans in Week 16 and are expected to start Brady Cook again. Cook has taken eight sacks and turned the ball over four times in his last two appearances. He’s a perfect target for fantasy defenses. The Patriots, meanwhile, sacked Tyrod Taylor twice and forced a fumble last week—and Taylor is far less reckless with the football than Cook.

This is the exact type of defense you want in Championship Week: not elite, but facing a bottom-tier offense with a volatile QB. The Jets rank 28th in adjusted fantasy points allowed (aFPA) to opposing defenses and have given up double-digit fantasy points to four of the last six DSTs they’ve faced. New England is available in half of Yahoo leagues and should be one of the top streamers this week.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders

Rostered in 25% of Yahoo leagues

The Cowboys defense has come crashing back to earth in recent weeks, allowing 35 points per game across their last four contests while failing to record a single sack. That said, Week 17 presents a sneaky spot for a bounce-back. The Commanders will start one of Josh Johnson, Jeff Driskell, or Sam Hartman at quarterback—all of whom are either journeymen or untested. Making matters worse, Washington is down its top two offensive linemen.

Despite the Cowboys’ slump, they racked up 15 fantasy points in their first matchup against the Commanders—even though Jayden Daniels started that game. With fewer playmakers and a weaker QB this time around, Dallas could easily surprise. They’re only rostered in 25% of Yahoo leagues and are worth considering for desperate fantasy managers.
