HGTV star Jenny Marrshonored her late friends and neighbors Bob and Jill in a December 24 Instagram upload.
In the post, Jenny referenced that she and her husband, Dave Marrs, intended to renovate a cabin for Bob and Jill while filming the seventh season of their hit HGTV series, Fixer to Fabulous, as reported by TV Insider. During season 7, episode 4, ("Fix This $5K Cabin"), which aired on December 23, Dave and Jenny's plans for the cabin changed after they found out Bob had died while on vacation with his wife. In the same Fixer to Fabulous episode, Dave said that Bob and Jill were "the best neighbors anyone could ever ask for."
Jenny started out the caption of her December 24 Instagram upload by wishing her followers a Merry Christmas. She then explained that "Bob passed right before Easter" this year. She said she decided to mention Bob during a church sermon after his death.
"And, that Sunday, I was slated to speak at church. I didn’t know if I could do it. Yet, I also knew it was a chance to talk about my friend and all that he had taught me. For instance, he taught me most everything I know about caring for sheep. And, so, on Easter Sunday, with a shaky voice and tears streaming, I spoke about our Good Shepherd and how I learned firsthand what it takes to be a shepherd from Mr. Bob," wrote Jenny in her post's caption.
She also shared that she and her five children had some difficulty watching the December 23 Fixer to Fabulous episode.
"And, as I watched the episode last night, holding the hands of my tearful kiddos and offering hugs and tissues, all of the sadness came back. I was so frustrated that this episode aired THIS week. Just before Christmas. We are sad enough, after all," continued Jenny in the caption.
She said that she was able to find comfort in the Easter sermon she gave after Bob's death. In addition, she referenced that she and Dave decided to renovate the cabin for their family.
"This cabin represents more than a cozy place to retreat together. It is in honor and in memory of our friends," wrote Jenny. "Because, if you didn’t know, our beloved Jill joined Bob in Eternity four months after he passed. She never got to see the finished cabin. And, so, while we could always lament and become hard-hearted, we won’t. We will dare to hope in this place."
She then encouraged her fans to "Hold on to hope."
"Embrace your loved ones, be present, seek adventure, laugh…even when you’re sad. The hope remains. Hold on," stated Jenny.
Several fans flocked to the post's comments section to share their support for Jenny.
"Oh my goodness! Jill too It was such a wonderful episode. You had mentioned in your live you didnt understand 'the timing' and the only sense I can make is that you wouldn't have had this level of something to honor them by without getting started on this cabin. What an incredible episode to recap your love and admiration for them forever," wrote a commenter.
"What a blessing for all of you to have had one another. I am so sorry for the heavy losses this past year. Grateful for the Hope that is our anchoring this life. Rejoicing in knowing you will see both of them again for eternity!" added another.
"Such a special show. And a wonderful place to share," shared a different person.
"Oh my goodness. We were so incredibly sad with you last night, learning that Bob had passed before the cabin was finished but then to read here that Jill passed 4 months later…I can’t imagine how hard that has been for their family and yours. While the timing of all of it was so difficult, God has used you and your family to shine the light of Jesus and share the hope we have, in Him, for all eternity. Thank you both for being such faithful servants of the kingdom," commented another.
"It's all so beautiful and I remember now that Jill also passed..It must have been so difficult to watch that episode..You have your family to help all of you to get through this..God bless you all at this emotional time," chimed in a fifth person.
"It’s so beautiful and a wonderful tribute to Bob and Jill. I hope it can bring you some happy memories and good times to help replace the sad feelings you inevitably have now," wrote an Instagram user.
