ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The federal government has rolled back some airline consumer protections, meaning compensation for delays and cancellations is no longer guaranteed. However, travelers may still be entitled to refunds, reimbursements, or even cash, according to New York Attorney General Letitia James.
This comes after the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) recently announced rollbacks of polices from the Biden administration, no longer guaranteeing specific compensations.
In response, NY Attorney General Letitia James is urging New Yorkers who are traveling by plane to file complaints online in case of severe flight delays and cancellations.
“I urge all New York travelers to know their rights and file complaints with my office if they experience significant delays, flight cancellations, or are denied boarding after purchasing a ticket,” said James.
If your flight is disrupted, officials said to file a complaint online or call the attorney general’s office at 800-771-7755.
