Just before Christmas, a new Banksy mural appeared in London, drawing attention from people on the street and fans online.
The elusive artist confirmed the piece on Monday, December 22, by posting photos to his Instagram. The artwork appeared in Bayswater, west London, and depicts two children in winter clothing lying on the ground, with one pointing up at the sky.

“rent just went up by 80%,” one person wrote.
“It’s highlighting poverty, and child homelessness during Christmas. Painted by Centerpoint building, London. Centerpoint is a homeless charity,” pointed out another.
“Awesome stuff great to have a new Banksy for Christmas! ?❤️,” chimed in a third.
“‘We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars,’” someone else added, quoting Oscar Wilde.
“My boi, you done it again. Nice work of art,” another said.
Others offered more reflective takes, with one commenter writing, “My interpretation: despite all the bad stuff happening around us, take a moment this holiday to be as innocent as a child and look up in awe at the stars with wellies and a friend.”
Shortly after the Bayswater mural appeared, a second, identical image was spotted near Centre Point Tower in central London. The location quickly became part of the conversation because of its connection to Centrepoint, a U.K. charity that supports homeless youth. However, Banksy has not shared or confirmed that second piece on social media, and it is currently being treated as unverified despite the visual similarities.

— DW News (@dwnews) December 22, 2025For anyone unfamiliar, Banksy is a pseudonymous British street artist whose identity has never been officially confirmed. What is known is his style: simple, stencil-based images that hit fast and hit emotionally. His work regularly tackles war, wealth gaps, consumerism, policing, and power — and then disappears, often covered or taken down by property owners, local authorities, or members of the public.

That fleeting nature is part of the appeal. In September, a Banksy mural outside London’s Royal Courts of Justice — showing a judge and a protester — was quickly covered and removed. In May, he confirmed a lighthouse-themed piece in Marseille, using a real-world shadow to complete the image. And in August, a series of animal-themed works appeared across London, many of which were vandalized, removed, or put behind protective barriers within days.

Sotheby’s has previously highlighted Robbie Williams as a Banksy collector, with the singer once describing the artist’s work as mixing “hip-hop culture, naughtiness and comedy.” Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 has also shown his appreciation, putting his Banksy painting Crude Oil (Vettriano) up for auction earlier this year.
