San Diego Gas & Electric said Tuesday it was taking proactive steps to prepare for an approaching winter storm, pledging to prioritize public safety, minimize outages and ensure crews are ready to respond quickly to severe weather conditions.
In the event of unplanned outages, SDG&E said its crews “will work as quickly and safely as possible to restore power. We remain committed to customer safety and reliable service, with teams ready to respond at a moment’s notice to reduce disruptions.”
The utility also offered several storm safety reminders:
Always assume downed power lines are energized, avoid them, and report them by calling 911 or the utility at 800-411-7343 Don’t touch anyone coming into contact with a power line and call 911 immediately If a downed line touches a car, remain inside and call 911 Do not attempt to turn off power or disconnect gas service during an evacuation as equipment has safeguards in place Secure outdoor items to prevent them from damaging power lines Drive cautiously to decrease the risk of vehicle accidents involving electrical equipment Prepare an emergency kit with a battery-operated radio, flashlights and essential supplies while avoiding using candles during outages Have a backup plan for medical equipment needs Give SDG&E crews space to work safely and efficiently⚠️ ?️ An upcoming winter storm is forecast to bring rain, gusty winds, and possible lightning across our service territory today through Friday.
