Nahshon Wright’s Pro Bowl Snub Left Me Flabbergasted

The Chicago Bears are sending three players to the Pro Bowl Games in 2026. And while Drew Dalman, Joe Thuney, and Kevin Byard all deserve to go, that they are not being joined by Nahshon Wright legitimately left me flabbergasted. I’m miffed. And judging by the reactions on social media, a whole bunch of Bears fans are with me in feeling that way. But as it turns out, we are not alone in our disappointment.

This is what Green Bay Packers star Micah Parsons had to say about Nahshon Wright’s Pro Bowl snub:

Nashone wright getting snubbed for first team pro bowl selection is crazy!!

See! Even a Packers star player (and a perennial Pro Bowler in his own right) believes that Nahshon Wright should have been selected to the NFL’s annual all-star game. Wright has been a revelation in Chicago. After being discarded by the Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings, Wright has emerged as a playmaker in Chicago’s secondary. Wright has five interceptions (one of those was a pick-six), two forced fumbled, three fumble recovries, 11 passes defended, 3 tackles-for-loss, 1 quarterback hit, and a 69.0 grade from Pro Football Focus that is equal parts nice and impressive.

To go from being an unheralded signing in April to a starting cornerback who grades out as a top-25 player at his position in December is the type of stuff you’d find in a Hollywood script. That guy, with that arc, should be on his way to the Pro Bowl. It is a shame that he isn’t.

For what it’s worth, Wright isn’t bugging about the Pro Bowl snub.

“I would say I was probably more hopeful than anything,” Wright said (h/t Brad Biggs via Twitter/X). “I mean, you’d think if you lead the league in takeaways, that’s gotta count for something, right? It’s cool just coming from what I had to overcome.”

Nahshon Wright (And Other Bears Pro Bowl Snubs)

Seeing this side-by-side featuring Nahshon Wright and Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell (who is going to the Pro Bowl) stopped me in my tracks:

Nahshon Wright took Jalen Hurts’ cookies on Black Friday in front of a worldwide audience on Amazon Prime and put an end to the Tush Push as we knew it. That alone should have made him a lock to be a Pro Bowler this year. It bugs me that he wasn’t selected as a Pro Bowler the first time around, even after garnering the most fan votes of any cornerback. Wright can still make it as an alternate. So it’s not as if all hope is lost. But for a player to make the climb he did and to play as well as he has to not get rewarded with a Pro Bowl nod is a shame.

NAHSHON WRIGHT HIGHLIGHTS: November’s NFC Defensive Player of the Month

Wright wasn’t the only Bears player who had a strong case for Pro Bowl recognition. Here are some other notable snubs:

Josh Blackwell, special teams — Blackwell has proven to be one of the NFL’s best special teams players in recent years. Between his return game excellence that was on display in the Week 18 win against the Packers last season, the blocked field goal versus the Raiders in Week 4, and his nose for the ball (which was shown off on his onside kick recovery) in Week 16 against Green Bay, you’d think he’d have enough clips to get a Pro Bowl nod. Unfortunately, he did not. Josh Blackwell blocks Daniel Carlson’s kick. Mandatory Credit: Kiyoshi Mio-Imagn Images Darnell Wright, right tackle — Wright has an uphill climb to make when it comes to NFL offensive tackles. The guys who were chosen ahead of him have longer résumés and are future Hall of Famers (Trent Williams, 49ers) or have been in the spotlight for longer (Bucs OT Tristan Wirfs and Lions OT Penei Sewell have been standout performers on multiple playoff teams). It is a tough ceiling to crack, but Wright could do it one day soon if he keeps on this current trajectory. Jonah Jackson, right guard — Jackson already has a Pro Bowl on his résumé and I thought he was deserving of another with how he has played this season. After a sluggish Week 1, Jackson has played well enough to earn a 74.4 grade from Pro Football Focus that ranks him 12th among 79 offensive guards. I suppose the NFL can’t send the entire Bears offensive line to the Pro Bowl, but this group could’ve gotten one more member.
