The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation has opened a state-of-the art health center on the reservation in Dehesa.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the 24,000-square-foot facility was held on Dec. 19 by tribal Chairman Cody Martinez with a traditional performance by the Kumeyaay Bird Singers.

“This remarkable facility is more than a building. It is an investment in the well-being of our people and those in the community. This celebration is a powerful testament to who we are as a tribe and what we value,” said Martinez.

The facility provides both medical and dental care, local social services, behavioral health and has a full-service pharmacy.

The new center will serve members of the Sycuan Band, other Native Americans, Sycuan employees and the general public in the surrounding community.
