High School student Aundre Lebron Demond Matthews has been arrested after he allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old to death with a pair of scissors when they got into a fight over a $21 vape pen.
Matthews, 18, was arrested and charged with murder in connection to the death of another student on December 17, according to the criminal complaint viewed by People.
He is being held on a $3 million bond, according to online jail records reviewed by Us Weekly. Matthews is scheduled to appear in court on January 7.
Baytown Police confirmed that authorities were called to Ross S. Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas, at 10:42 a.m. on December 17 in response to a report of an aggravated assault.

Two days later, prosecutors detailed the alleged events that led to the fatal stabbing during a court hearing on Friday, December 19.
Surveillance footage captured Matthews and the victim walking into class together around 10:30 a.m. Prosecutors pointed out that the teens appeared friendly with each other at that point of the day when the clip was captured, according to Click2Houston.
Prosecutors said that both the victim and Matthews asked the teacher if they could be excused to go to the restroom, per KHOU.
Once the teens were in the restroom, they allegedly got into an argument about the THC vape pen Matthews claimed the victim stole from him, according to ABC 13.
KHOU reported that Matthews allegedly told officers he followed the victim into the bathroom, where he searched the teen for the vape pen and instead, found a pair of scissors. After he put the scissors in his own waistband, the teens left the bathroom and went into an empty lab classroom.
Prosecutors claimed that a female student overheard Matthews accuse the victim of stealing the vape pen and claiming he owed him $21, per Click2Houston. The female student then said she saw Matthews strike the victim before the two boys got into a fight.
Matthews allegedly told police that the victim pushed him away when he attempted to search him for the pen, which led to another fight. Matthews then claimed that the victim punched him in the head twice, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors went on to say that Matthews told police he grabbed the scissors and stabbed the victim because he was afraid to be beat up by someone who was larger than him.

Soon after the stabbing, the female student said she saw a large amount of blood coming from the victim’s neck. She then yelled for help, and a teacher raced into the lab classroom and tried to pull Matthews and the victim apart, according to Click2Houston.
Following the fight, the victim was flown to the hospital and later died of a puncture wound to the neck, according to ABC 13.
The Baytown Police Department and Matthews’ attorney did not immediately respond to Us Weekly’s requests for comment.
Following the incident, district superintendent Dr. Randal O’Brien issued a statement to the school. “My heart is heavy as I join the community in grieving yesterday’s tragedy at Sterling High School. We are mourning the loss of a student, and our deepest condolences are with the student’s family, friends, and all Sterling Rangers,” the statement read, per KHOU. “There are no words that can fully meet a moment like this, but please know that the district and community stand with you.”
