Mrs. Juanita Whittemore Sircy age 80, a homemaker of the Monoville Community, was pronounced deceased at 5:39 a.m. Saturday morning December 20, 2025 at the TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville where she was admitted to a swing bed on December 19th. She died on what would have been she and her late husband’s 60th anniversary, had he lived.

    Funeral services by Bro. Frank Bratcher will be conducted from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon December 23rd. Burial will follow beside her husband Billy and near her son Doug in the Amonette-Taylor section at the Dixon Springs Cemetery.

    Visitation with the Sircy family will be only on Tuesday December 23rd from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral services.

    She was the fifth of nine children, seven daughters and two sons born to the late Cager John Wilmore who died at the age of 50 on November 18, 1964 and Gertrude East Turner Whittemore who died at the age of 89 on November 24, 2006 and was born Juanita Mitchell Whittemore in Carthage on March 14, 1945.

    Three siblings also preceded her in death, Anita Mai Sircy who died January 27, 2017 at the age of 75, William Edward Whittemore who died August 2, 2018 at the age of 81 and Robbie Jean Whittemore Overstreet who died May 31, 2020 at the age of 84.

    Mrs. Sircy was a member of the 1963 graduating class at Smith County High School. There she majored in home economics, and was a member of the Future Homemakers of America all four years of high school. It was stated of her in the “63 Owl annual that her character was silent, placid and serene, and “That which needs to be proved is not worth much”.

    In Carthage on December 20, 1965, she was united in marriage to Monoville Community native, Billy Herald Sircy. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2007 at the age of 68 following almost forty-two years of marriage.

    She aggrieved the loss of she and Billy’s only son, Eric Douglas (Doug) Sircy, who died of natural causes on August 31, 2012 at the age of 44.

    Mrs. Sircy was saved at an early age and was of the Missionary Baptist faith.

    She is survived by her daughter and now her only surviving child, Melody Sircy Haskins and husband Stanley of the Kempville Community; five siblings, Bobbie Whittemore York of the Monoville Community, Ann Whittemore Sanders of South Carthage, Glenda Whittemore Richardson of Baxter, Brenda Whittemore West of Nashville, and Gary Whittemore and wife Danice Lancaster Whittemore of the New Middleton Community, three grandchildren, Katie Goolsby of the Wartrace Community, Dakota Niznik and husband Justin of the Pleasant Shade Community, Amber Dabney of Watertown; four step-grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren.

    The Sircy family requests memorials be made to the Amonette-Taylor Cemetery Mowing Fund.
