Damascus, Dec. 23(SANA) The Syrian specialized export clothing exhibition “Motex Khan Al-Harir” for the Spring/Summer 2026 season kicked off Monday evening at the Damascus Fairgrounds.
The event is organized by the Chambers of Industry and Commerce in Damascus and Aleppo, in cooperation with the Ministries of Economy and Industry.
More than 250 national companies are participating in the exhibition, covering women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing, textiles and accessories, logistics services, along with several entities supporting small and micro enterprises.
Finance Minister Mohammad Yisr Barnieh told SANA that the current stage reflects a genuine partnership between the state, the industrial sector, and society, aimed at reviving Syrian industry and boosting exports. He noted that exhibitions are a vital part of promoting national industry and reflect growing optimism about the path toward revitalizing the industrial sector.
Barnieh highlighted that the textile industry represents a historic legacy for Syria, and through such exhibitions the state seeks to restore its prominence. He stressed the government’s commitment to supporting the industrial sector and providing favorable conditions and environments for success and progress.
Mohammad Hamza, Director General of the Syrian Institution for Exhibitions and International Markets, emphasized the importance of Khan Al-Harir as a specialized exhibition for Syrian national clothing. He described it as a key platform to restore momentum to the apparel industry and return it to its natural prominence regionally and internationally.
Mohammad Ayman al-Moulawi, head of the Damascus and Countryside Chamber of Industry, explained that the exhibition hosts visiting businessmen to explore products and shop Syrian goods. He stressed that the clothing and textile industry is a leading sector comparable to global industries, and this exhibition serves as a permanent platform to support the industry and strengthen its presence in foreign markets.
Imad Taha al-Qassem, head of Aleppo’s Chamber of Industry, pointed to the importance of textiles as one of Syria’s oldest industries and a pillar of the national economy, noting that exhibitions are the most effective means of regaining foreign markets lost in recent years.
