ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A weak low pressure system will be passing just to the north of the Great Lakes. This will push a warm front across the area on Tuesday morning. As a result, an area wide wet snowfall will be developing later tonight before mixing with rain later Tuesday morning. Since temperatures will be marginal for any icy conditions, this will likely just be a small, slushy minor accumulation by Tuesday morning. Most locations should see an inch or less, however some of the higher elevations may see one to two inches with possibly a short period of freezing rain mixing in. Overall, this should be a minor event as the temperature will rise above freezing during the day on Tuesday.
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day look to be calm and uneventful with little to no precipitation and the temperature will be above freezing most of the time. That is good news for anyone traveling for the holiday. Looking ahead, winter conditions appear to be returning later Friday as sharply colder weather returns with accumulating snowfall.
