Helen Siff, the actress best known for her roles in Modern Family and Will & Grace, is dead at 88.
On Sunday, Dec. 21, Siff’s family confirmed her death in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, sharing that the actress died on Thursday, Dec. 18, in Los Angeles due to complications from a “long, painful illness.”

“Those who worked with Helen knew her not just as a talented performer, but as someone who brought professionalism, dedication and genuine kindness to every set,” the statement read.
It continued, “She understood that every role, no matter how large or small, was an opportunity to contribute something meaningful to the story being told.”
In addition to playing a nurse on Modern Family and Josie in Will & Grace, Siff portrayed countless other TV and film characters during her five-decade acting career.
Film-wise, she appeared in The Karate Kid, You Don't Mess With The Zohan, Hail, Caesar!, and others. Siff also had credits in shows like Doogie Howser, M.D., Knots Landing, Married… With Children, Sister, Sister, Scrubs, My Name Is Earl, and more.

“I’m heartbroken to share that my mother ( my mommy ) Helen Siff has passed away ?,” she captioned the update. “My dynamic, charismatic, one-of-a-kind mom was a stage, television and film actress. She loved her craft deeply, but her greatest role was being a mother and grandmother … You’ve taken your final bow, mommy …. I will love you forever ♥️.”
In the comments, Instagram users flooded Victoria with words of condolences, with one follower writing, “So incredibly sorry for your loss ?? from our brief conversation, I could tell how deeply you love your Mama and how proud you were of her ?.”
Another Instagram user shared, “What a beautiful photo tribute. Thinking of you and your family and wishing you all the best during this difficult time.”
Someone else echoed, “Vicky, my deepest condolences to you and family, your mother was beautiful till the end with her beautiful smile. Be at peace that she is now free of pain. She is with your father now and I'm sure she will start a theater group up there make everyone laugh!!!”

Siff is survived by her son, Matt; her daughters, Susie, Karen, Vicki and Jenny; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall, and a son, Bruce.
