(Rivers played his first game since 2020 last week. He last played for the Colts in 2020 and was busy coaching high school football as well as being a grandpa. Tonight, he will face the 49ers as the Colts are fighting for their playoff lives. The Colts were desperate at quarterback after losing Daniel Jones to an Achilles tear, and backup Anthony Richardson (orbital) is unavailable as well.

Rivers Threw for 120 Yards Last Week
(The Colts lost to the Seahawks 18-16 last week. Photo: Steven Bisig-Imagn Images)Rivers played his first game since the 2020 season last week in an 18-16 loss to the Seahawks. He was 18/27 for 120 yards with a touchdown pass and an interception. He was sacked once in the defeat as the Colts fell to 8-6 on the year. Rivers gave the Colts a 13-3 lead late in the second quarter with an 8-yard TD pass to Downs.
After the Seahawks stormed back to take a 15-13 lead with 2:27 left in the 4th, the Colts were able to take the lead on a 60-yard field goal with 1:40 left. Unfortunately, the Seahawks were able to respond with a 56-yard field goal with 18 seconds left that proved to be the game-winner.
Colts Fighting for Playoff Lives
It has been a rough ride for the Colts over the last four weeks as Indianapolis has dropped four straight to the Chiefs, Texans, Jaguars, and Seahawks. The losing streak has pushed them to No. 8 in the AFC playoff race and a couple of games behind the Texans (10-5) for the final Wild Card spot.
The Colts absolutely need to win tonight if they want a shot at making the playoffs. The final two weeks of the season include huge games against the Jaguars and Texans. The Jaguars are 11-4 and on top of the AFC South after beating the Broncos yesterday.
