A large sink hole opened up in the middle of a road on Chicago’s South Side during the morning rush hour Monday.
Footage of the scene showed crews working on a large section of collapsed pavement at 111th Street and Whipple.
Both directions of 111th Street were shut down between Albany and Sacramento Avenues due to the collapse.
The Chicago Transit Authority reported the #112 Vincennes/111th buses were being rerouted due to “street blockage near 111th and Whipple.”
It was not immediately clear how long repairs could take and how long closures would last.
