Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, who was serving as the Under-19 team’s mentor and manager, confirmed the update to the media.
Later, head coach Shahid Anwar stated that Pakistan had been planning for the tournament for the last 6 months. “The process started in June when we picked around 70 players after trials and then reduced the number to 20. Most of these players were then given chances to play 50-over cricket at the domestic level,” Anwar said.
