ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Immanuel Baptist Church hosted a community meal on Sunday afternoon as part of the National Union of the Homeless Winter Offensive. The event also served as a memorial for those who died due to homelessness this past year.
Parishioners took the time to remember Sister Grace, who passed away just over a month ago.
“She is an inspiration to do something for the people. Do it, don’t just talk about it,” said Sister Rita Lewis, a friend of Sister Grace. “Do it and she was want to speak to those with more power, those with authority, the leaders of our county to do more for our people and not leave them out on the street.”
Sister Grace’s nonprofit, La Madonna Della Strada, is hosting a turkey giveaway on Christmas Eve.
