ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Lake Ontario snow will be drifting in and out of the Rochester this evening with the most frequent snowfall likely north of the New York State Thruway. This will be a very limited accumulation as most communities will see an inch or less. However, along portions of Route 104 in Wayne County there could be one to three inches of accumulation by morning. The News10NBC First Alert meteorologists anticipate the lake snow will come to an end after midnight. The temperature will fall into the lower 20s with some communities to the south dropping into the teens.
Monday should feature partial sun for the morning with more clouds arriving in the afternoon. Fortunately, there will be less wind and chill as the temperature should rise into the middle 30s. Then more snow showers arrive Monday night, but again any accumulation should be an inch or less. The temperature will be rising through the 30s for the overnight.
On Tuesday wet snow showers may mix with rain at times as the temperature approaches 40 degrees. It appears there will be good traveling weather for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as dry conditions should be with us through the holiday. In fact, the temperature will likely rise into the low 40s for Christmas Day. Unfortunately, that means there is a high likelihood that it could be a green Christmas.
