GLENDALE — Arizona Cardinals cornerback Garrett Williams will not return to Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons due to an Achilles injury.
Williams went down in the first quarter with the non-contact injury. A cart immediately came out for Williams, with his teammates leaving the sideline and surrounding the cornerback before he was taken into the locker room.
Williams, who was placed on injured reserve earlier in the season due to a knee injury, had recorded 43 tackles, five passes defensed and a forced fumble across nine starts prior to Sunday’s action.
With Williams sidelined, Jaden Davis got some early run. He was elevated off the practice squad on Saturday.
Williams marked the latest Cardinals player to go down on Sunday.
Before Williams, pass rusher Josh Sweat exited with his own injury during Atlanta’s first drive.
Getting his ankle rolled up on, Sweat needed help off the field before heading to the blue medical tent and locker room.
The pass rusher, who is officially questionable to return, has since returned to the sideline.
