NFL WEEK 16: CHICAGO BEARS VS. GREEN BAY PACKERS — As of Saturday afternoon, The Athletic’s NFL Playoff Simulator gives Chicago’s football team a 83 percent chance of making the playoffs. A win would boost the squad’s playoff probabilities to 97 percent. However, a loss would knock the team’s chances down to 70 percent. That is a swing of 27 percentage points, dear reader. It would be putting this lightly to call tonight’s showdown between the Bears and Packers a big game. “Big” only begins to describe the vibe.
WEEK 16 GAME DAY NOTEBOOK
A win for the home team at Soldier Field would put this group one step closer to clinching a playoff berth for the first time since 2020. Only tight end Cole Kmet and cornerback Jaylon Johnson remain from that team. A win tonight plus a Detroit Lions loss on Sunday would lock Chicago’s football team into a postseason berth. We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. Hopefully, we can get to it after tonight.
