The restaurant has already given out free hot dogs on two occasions, once after Bears quarterback Caleb Williams threw for four touchdowns against the Dallas Cowboys in a 31-14 win in September.
Chicago-area residents got free hot dogs again after the team’s 24-15 win over the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in late November. That time, it was head coach Ben Johnson doing the honors, ripping off his shirt for a raucous postgame celebration in the City of Brotherly Love.
This time around, it would once again be Johnson who holds the keys to free hot dogs for Bears fans, but it will require an on-field accomplishment.
According to the restaurant, if Johnson dials up an offensive play that results in an offensive lineman or a defensive player scoring a touchdown, then Bears fans would once again win free hot dogs.
The promotion pays homage to William “Refrigerator” Perry, who scored a pair of touchdowns during the 1985 Super Bowl championship season for the Bears. He also picked up a rushing touchdown in Super Bowl XX, cementing himself as a Chicago sports icon.
The original offer was made by the restaurant back in October, but what better time could there be for Johnson to make good on it as the Bears take on the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field Saturday night.
