A strong season in College Station has come to an end. Texas A&M fell to Miami in the first round of the College Football Playoff, failing to find the end zone in a 10-3 loss.
As you can tell by the final score, it wasn’t a pretty afternoon for the Aggies offense. Texas A&M totaled 326 total yards of offense, but also turned the ball over 3 times and struggled to run the football. When asked about the key cause of Saturday’s offensive woes, though, head coach Mike Elko pointed to the line of scrimmage.
Elko insisted that the Aggies were never able to establish the run, which in turn made life harder for Marcel Reed. Elko also pointed to Miami’s intense pressure with 7 total sacks and 9 tackles for loss.
Here’s Elko’s full quote:
Mike Elko: "We lost the game at the line of scrimmage. We couldn't keep them off of us or get the run game established. They finished with seven sacks. You can't play playoff football and not win the line of scrimmage. We lost the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball."

Fletcher posted very nearly twice as many yards as Texas A&M combined, rushing for 172 yards at an average of 10.1 yards per carry. The Aggies were only able to get to Carson Beck twice, which led to a mostly accurate performance from the former Georgia quarterback.
Texas A&M finished its season with a 11-2 record, losing 2 straight after an 11-0 start.
