Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham, an ASU alum, will be staying in Tempe for the foreseeable future.
The Sun Devils and Dillingham agreed to a new contract that averages $7.5 million with a staff salary pool of $11 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) December 20, 2025With this move, Dillingham is officially turning down reported Michigan interest. Without context, that would seem like quite the story, but Dillingham has repeatedly referred to Arizona State as his “dream job,” and he’s standing on that statement now. When asked about the Michigan opening last week, Dillingham told reporters, “it’s a great opportunity for somebody.”
What Dillingham has done at Arizona State is nothing short of outstanding. The Sun Devils were 3-9 when he took over in 2023, and finished 3-9 in Dillingham’s first season. Things quickly changed in 2024, when Dillingham won the Big 12 Coach of the Year award after leading the Sun Devils to an 11-3 record and a College Football Playoff berth seemingly out of nowhere.
With the current state of the Big 12, it’s hard to imagine Dillingham and the Sun Devils not making it back to the postseason in the years to come.
