The Colorado Avalanche face off against their Central Division rival, the Winnipeg Jets, for the first time this season on Friday night. While the Avs remain in the NHL’s No. 1 spot, the Jets have struggled with injuries and currently sit in sixth place in the division, 23 points behind Colorado.
Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck returned on Dec. 13 after missing 12 games due to a knee injury. He is 1-1-1 since being back between the pipes.

“They have Hellebuyck back, which is the backbone of the team, and obviously gives them a chance to win every night,” Brock Nelson said. “A lot of skill up front, obviously led by (Mark) Scheifele and (Kyle) Connor. Then some D that maybe they’re scoring a little bit higher than you’ve seen before. Pretty complete team, and probably a better team than what their record of late has shown. So we got to be ready to go.”
