Gordon Ramsay’s New Project Is a Major Departure for the Celebrity Chef

Gordon Ramsay has a new project in the works, but this isn't going to be what fans typically see him doing.

The iconic chef has done numerous reality television projects over the years that revolved around cooking. Several of the longest running shows include Hell's Kitchen, MasterChef USA, and Kitchen Nightmares.

In his new project, however, Ramsay is making a significant shift. Not only is this one not a reality television show, but Ramsay also will not be in front of the cameras.

According to Deadline on December 19, Ramsay will be an executive producer on a television series starring The O.C. alum Rachel Bilson.

The scripted series is based on the Kathleen Flinn book, The Sharper Your Knife, the Less you Cry. On her website, Flinn explains that inspired the book.

"In 2003, I was a thirty-six-year-old American living and working in London, when I returned from vacation to find that my corporate job had been eliminated," Flinn shared.

She continued, "Ignoring my mother's advice that I get another job immediately or 'never get hired anywhere ever again,' instead I cleared out my savings and moved to Paris to pursue a dream-a diploma from the famed Le Cordon Bleu."

Penguin Random House describes the book as a "funny and inspiring account of her struggle in a stew of hot-tempered chefs, competitive classmates, her own 'wretchedly inadequate' French — and how she mastered the basics of French cuisine."

Bilson will portray Flinn in the series. The show is currently in development, and thus, has not been picked up by a specific network yet. However, it is in development with Fox Entertainment Studios.

Deadline noted that this series is a new genre for Ramsay, as he will be an executive producer on a scripted show with this project. This is not, however, the first show he's attached his name to that keeps him behind the cameras.

The Apple TV series Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars lists Ramsay as an executive producer, along with Lisa Edwards of Studio Ramsay, and Morgan Roberts. Jesse Burgess hosted the show, which debuted in October.

Bilson took to Instagram to share Deadline's announcement about the show. She noted, "Couldn't be more excited for this and this entire team. Christmas came early."

One fan responded, "Omg, this is so exciting!!! I can't wait to watch it!"

Another gushed, "Congratulations! I already know I'm going to love it!"
