Teri Hatcher gave fans a tour of a magical Christmas village that’s far, far away from Wisteria Lane, the fictional street her character lived on in the TV series Desperate Housewives.
On Dec. 18, the actress posted an Instagram video to show off her annual Christmas village made up of ceramic houses, figurines, and a cottony landscape filled with bottle brush trees.
Hatcher, 61, addressed fans to explain the different sections of her miniature Christmas town. “I love the story of the town this year more than I ever have,” she said.
She started with the shopping area of the town where everyone is “buzzing about Christmas.” She then moved on to a Great Gatsby-inspired section of the village, which included a backyard swan pond and a dancing opera theater as well as an Italian restaurant, hotel, bakery and coffee shop.
Next was the town center, which included a steakhouse, bar, and a lit-up dress shop as well as a church, brewery, accountant’s office, and an area with skaters on a frozen pond. Hatcher also had Scrooge’s house included in her village, and in the upstairs window, the images of Christmas past could be seen “haunting” him. She also included a “Little Women” house that was given to her as a gift. The actress also pointed out some houses that she purchased from Christmas marts in Germany.
At the far end of the village was an amusement park complete with a vintage Ferris wheel. “This Ferris wheel is very old and probably one of my favorite pieces,” Hatcher shared.
The very top of the village featured an ice castle and a “fantasyland" with Snow White’s house and Santa’s workshop. Hatcher also revealed that she hides her daughter Emerson’s last Christmas gift in one of the houses each year.
“Reimagining this little village gives me so much joy every year, I hope it brings you some too!” she captioned the clip.

“Love it! So magical and beautiful! I want to live in that village …I love how creative and invested you are in your Christmas village ,” one fan wrote to Hatcher.
“I love looking at your creation! Magical??,” another added.
“Feels like a Christmas movie,” another agreed.
I love all the details! I love that your daughter’s last gift goes in there! ?,” a fourth fan wrote.
In a previous video, Hatcher shared a behind-the-scenes of her annual buildout for “Teri’s Town.” She also explained how she completes the massive task of creating her magical wonderland each year. "Multiple holiday pajama changes, emotional triumphs, and a few glasses of wine," she teased.
"I'm at that point that happens every year where I'm totally stuck and I have no idea how this is going to happen,” Hatcher admitted in the clip. “I wanted to stop and share because I think this is sort of symbolic or a metaphor for life. When you get to that point and you just can't see yourself finishing and how hard that is to drive through that feeling and just keep doing it, keep going forward, even though you're not sure what it's leading you towards and you'll get to the finish. Something about it feels healing. Maybe that's why I build this Christmas village every year."
View this post on InstagramIn an interview with Hello! magazine, Hatcher revealed that the village build takes her several days to complete. "I just finished building my Christmas Village that I build,” she said. “It takes me three days. It's quite extravagant, and I love doing it.”
The Golden Globe winner also rattled off a list of Christmas movies that she watches throughout the build-out process. “Elf — twice — The Holiday, Last Holiday, Love, Actually, Lady and the Tramp, Beauty and the Beast, Spirited… Die Hard, Planes, Trains and Automobiles,” she said. “I mean, these are playing in the background as I build the whole thing. And I do that every year.”
