Robert Irwin is opening up about his friendship with his DWTS professional partner Witney Carson.
During the Thursday, Dec. 18 episode of the Not Gonna Lie podcast hosted by Kylie Kelce, Robert shared how he was initially fearful of joining the reality competition series.
“I have no idea what to do. Like, what the heck did I just sign up for? And I'm talking to Bindi [Irwin], I'm like, 'What? I don't know how to dance.'" Robert said of his mindset before the show began." When we found out that I'd be partnered with Witney, she was like, 'Listen, Witney Carson is the greatest. You don't have to worry about the dancing thing. She'll be an amazing teacher. You got this.'"
Robert also shared that the "best advice" Carson gave him was to "just let go and lean in."
"She said, 'This experience will change your life,'" Robert continued. "Every time when rehearsals are 12 hours a day and you're sore and you're just giving it everything, she just said, 'Remember why you're here.'"
“'Remember what you represent. Remember that passion you have. Remember everything that you're about,'" Robert continued while quoting Carson's advice. "'Remember that this experience is supposed to be hard. It's supposed to be a challenge.' And I just went, 'All right, I just got to let go and lean into this absolute hurricane.'"

Carson also recently shared how Irwin reignited her passion for dance after a string of DWTS losses.
“It meant the world to me to win, and not only because I feel like it’s been a really long time, like, all of my efforts for the last 10 years, just the loss after loss after loss, it can get really hard and really defeating,” Carson explained during the Tuesday, Dec. 9 episode of the Viall Files podcast. “I felt like I was very defeated in the fact that, am I even supposed to be on this show? Am I even good? You kind of go back into those fears and those doubts of, I don’t even know, am I good anymore?”
“So the fact that I did win after all these years was just, it kind of gave me a confidence of, okay, I can do this. I’m meant to be here,” she added.
