In a year where the Bears hired a new coach, clinched their first winning season since 2018, and are on the cusp of earning their first playoff berth since 2020, President Kevin Warren hijacked the headlines with the latest plot twist in the franchise’s stadium saga. Go figure.
The Chicago Bears are set to play in three of the top-10 most important games (as deemed by CBS Sports) of what is left of the 2025 NFL season. And what’s top of mind is the latest chapter in a failing search for a new stadium home? Sigh. Leave it to the Bears to muck something up like this and in this way. In case you missed it: Bears President Kevin Warren penned an open letter that stated (among other things) that Arlington Heights is no longer the primary focus of the team’s next stadium project. Let’s call a spade a spade: This is nothing more than the latest leverage play in this long-standing charade of a dance. Honestly, I’m at a point in which I feel as if the only way a Bears stadium deal gets done is if Ben Johnson draws it up, finances it, and builds it with his own two hands. Johnson might be the only person in the organizational hierarchy who knows what he is doing. Words from Kevin Warren 100 days ago (via the team’s official site): “the Chicago Bears belong to more than just Chicago. We belong to the entire state of Illinois.” What’s changed in 100 days, Kevin? What has changed to make this franchise go from the Bears belonging to “the entire state of Illinois” to considering a move to Northwest Indiana.” Now that things are apparently open on that front, how long will it take for a place like Aurora, Waukegan, Naperville, Richton Park, or one of the other municipalities the Bears flirted with to try to get back in the mix? When does Elgin throw its hat in the ring? The Athletic’s Jon Greenberg is right. Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson should take Kevin Warren’s game ball away from him. That ball should go to cornerback Nahshon Wright. It should have gone to him in the first place. Once the game ball situation is settled, Johnson should gift Warren a shovel. Remember when the Bears president promised shovels in the ground in 2025? So much for that. We still believe that Arlington Park is the most viable location in Cook County, but now we’re putting everything back on the table and exploring all options.” The Bears threatening a move to Indiana during their most prosperous season in years is one of the stupidest things I’ve seen this team do. And I’ve seen this team do so many nonsensical things that I’ve lost count.I hate how tone deaf it is for the Bears to throw this out right now. Is right now really the best time for this? No. Not when the team is having a season that is changing the way people locally and nationally are talking about Chicago football. Is this the first time something like this has happened? Also, no.EPISODE XIII OF THE BN BEARS PODCAST IS HERE: Apple | Spotify | YouTube

— Brian Baldinger (@BaldyNFL) December 18, 2025 Things could be worse: At least we’re not doing the stadium song and dance while actively seeking a head coach. I don’t mind reading these posts ranking the NFL head coach potential openings posts when the Bears aren’t involved. Dennis Allen is my kind of coach:#Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen said coming up with game plans this season with players moving in and out because of injury was like cooking with whatever's left in the fridge.I asked if he cooks."I grill," he said.
— Patrick Finley (@patrickfinley) December 17, 2025LOOK WHO HAS THE NFL’S BEST OFFENSE SINCE WEEK 5
I’d rather be discussing Bears linebacker D’Marco Jackson going from under-the-radar waiver wire claim by one of the NFL’s worst teams in 2024 back in August to earning the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week award for a first-place team. I’d rather be talking about Caleb Williams preparing to step into the bright spotlight that comes with being a Bears quarterback during a home primetime game against the Packers. There is still time to vote in our (non-scientific) Bears stadium poll:Would you support #DaBears if they moved to Indiana?
