OAKLAND — A 44-year-old woman who told police she was shot Thursday morning after getting into an argument with man walking a dog in the Mosswood district was in stable condition, authorities said.

According to initial reports, the woman, an Oakland resident, told police she was walking to a BART station when she got into an argument on the street with a man walking a pit bull. Details of what the argument was about were not released.
The woman said the man pulled a gun and shot her in the lower right leg before fleeing.
She was taken from the scene by ambulance to a hospital.
