Kristin Cabot Admits Making a Bad Decision During Viral Coldplay Kiss Cam Scandal

Kristin Cabot knows the moment was a mistake — but she never expected it would cost her career or threaten her family’s safety. Now, months after her viral Coldplay concert appearance, she’s sharing what really happened and how she’s rebuilding her life.

Speaking with The New York Times on Thursday, December 18, Cabot said she was newly separated from her husband, Andrew Cabot, when the concert took place.

“I made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss,” she recalled. “And it’s not nothing.”

The moment, captured on the stadium kiss cam during a Coldplay show, ignited widespread scrutiny. Cabot, then head of human resources at Astronomer, and Andy Byron, the company’s CEO who was also recently separated, appeared visibly startled — Byron ducking out of sight as Cabot turned away to cover her face.

“Whoa, look at these two. All right, come on. You’re OK,” Coldplay frontman Chris Martin said from the stage. “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy. I’m not quite sure what to do. I hope we didn’t do something bad.”

When the clip began circulating online, both Cabot and Byron were still legally married. Shortly afterward, Byron’s wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, removed “Byron” from her Facebook profile, and Cabot later filed for divorce from her husband.

Cabot also offered additional context about her relationship with Byron and the professional fallout that followed. She said she interviewed for a role at Astronomer in the summer of 2024, speaking with Byron during the hiring process, and that the two “clicked, stylistically.” Cabot began working as Astronomer’s chief people officer in November 2024.

As she navigated a separation from her husband, Cabot said she found herself developing a connection with Byron, who told her he was in a similar place during a conversation in spring 2025.

“I’m going through the same thing,” she recalled him saying, per NYT.

Cabot said the Coldplay concert was the first and only time she and Byron kissed. “I was so embarrassed and so horrified,” she said. “I’m the head of H.R. and he’s the C.E.O. It’s, like, so cliché and so bad. We both just sat there with our heads in our hands, like, ‘What just happened?’”

In the days and weeks that followed, the scrutiny intensified. Byron ultimately resigned from his role as CEO of Astronomer. Cabot also stepped down from her position as chief people officer.

“I took accountability and I gave up my career for that. That’s the price I chose to pay,” she said. “I want my kids to know that you can make mistakes, and you can really screw up. But you don’t have to be threatened to be killed for them.”

According to Cabot, the online reaction quickly escalated from criticism to threats, leaving her family concerned for their safety.

“They were already in really bad shape, and that’s when the wheels fell off the cart,” she shared. “Because my kids were afraid that I was going to die and they were going to die.”

She remembered her 14-year-old daughter breaking down in tears when the scandal first started, while the family tried to process how a private moment had gone public so quickly.

“They knew who Andy was, obviously,” she told the publication. “And I said, ‘He and I got very swept up in a moment and now it’s on social media.’”

As for where things stand now, Cabot said her contact with Byron has been limited since the summer, after initially staying in touch in the immediate aftermath.

“Honestly, a lot of it was, like: ‘Hi. It’s 11 o’clock on a Tuesday. Any advice?’” she said.

In September, the two met and agreed that “speaking with each other was going to make it too hard for everyone to move on and heal.”
